The Display entitled THE TWENTIETH CENTURY - a Century of Pioneering Flight has been completed this spring. It enhances the existing comprehensive range of displays within the main exhibition hall at Flambards.

Pioneers of aviation, those who set in motion a chain of events from the first powered flight to record breaking distance and endurance records, enable us today to regard air travel as fast, effective and safe.  This exhibition highlights over a century of pioneering flight, from Richard Pearse, the son of an emigrant from Cornwall, claimed the first sustained powered flight at the beginning of the 20th century to the proposed solar powered circumnavigation of the world planned for 2009.  This aeronautical exhibition compares three of the major achievements of the last 100 years.
