Experience Wartime Life on the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings
Published: 4th June 2019Commemorate the 75th anniversary of the D-Day Landings at Flambards’ Britain in the Blitz exhibition and experience war-time life (Thursday 6th June).
2019 marks 75 years since the landings on the Normandy beaches which eventually led to the liberation of Europe.
Visitors to Britain in the Blitz will be able to get a sense of what it was like during World War II with the sounds of Doodlebugs gliding overhead, shaking floors and cramped conditions inside the Anderson shelters.
Those wishing to learn more about the personal impact of Britain at war can read touching letters from child evacuees writing home, discover authentic artefacts from the time period and there’s lots more fascinating information about the exhibition in the guide book.
The immersive exhibition was the first of its kind in the UK when it was opened by Dame Vera Lynn in 1984. Since then, hundreds of thousands of people who lived through WWII have agreed it’s a realistic and sensitive homage to those who managed to ‘Keep Calm and Carry On,’ despite the hardships of war.
